David J. Hellstern

Mr. Hellstern was born and raised on a farm outside Mechanicsville, Iowa.  He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa in 2000 and his Juris Doctorate from Drake University Law School in 2004.

Mr. Hellstern has a general practice including, but not limited to:

Business/Corporate Law
Helping Iowa businesses with their legal needs from their formation to their sale, with business client sizes ranging from a kiosk in the mall to multi-million dollar companies.  Mr. Hellstern can help form a business, buy or sell a business, pass on a business to key employees or family, create contracts to protect the business, and represent businesses in litigation.  Particularly, Mr. Hellstern has helped many eating/drinking establishments and construction companies in the local area with their legal needs.

Construction Law
Assisting contractors and construction clients with contracts, disputes involving delays, workmanship and material defects, and environmental issues.

Real Estate
Helping clients with purchasing or selling commercial or residential real estate, including purchase agreements, title opinions, clearing title defects and preparing and conducting closings.

Family Law
Assisting clients in regards to a divorce, child custody, paternity or adoption action in Iowa.

Wills, Estates, and Probate Law
Providing legal advice in regards to forming or changing a will or trust, and representing an Estate through an Iowa probate proceeding.

Mr. Hellstern is a member of the Polk County, Iowa State, and American Bar Associations and is licensed to practice in the State of Iowa, the Northern and Southern Federal Districts of Iowa and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
